The Snakeshakers Roadhouse Rock'n Blues Band has been down the road, faced their devils and come out on the other side baptized in their own version of the Blues.
They have not sold out to cheap imitations of the music they love. Rather, they have embraced its roots, been shaped by it...and shaped it, in turn. Their brand of Blues is a Rock 'n Blues style that resonates with people everywhere and every age. Some call it Rockabilly. The SnakeShakers call it entertainment.
"What sets us apart from other bands... is that we're not up there to show off our talent or mechanical abilities. We write and play songs to entertain people; Songs that touch their emotions and make them feel alive."
Each of the SnakeShakers has come to the band by different routes...yet from the same direction: Wherever their music led them.
Chris Henson started playing Guitar at age 10. That's also when he knew he wanted to have his own band. He's studied, listened to and played everthing from blues to country to rock'n roll. Like many artists, he stood at his own crossroads, having to choose between his music and a career in another field after graduating from college with a degree in graphic arts. He stayed true to himself and his music. He's played all over the Midwest in Blues festivals and clubs throughout the region. He founded the SnakeShakers 10 years ago and has been the leading force behind its evolution into the national spotlight.
For Jeremy Burgin, following his music meant playing for the troops in Bosnia and Korea as bass player for the US Army Band. After completing basic training and the Army's School of Music in Va Beach, he played Jazz, Country, Show Bands, Stage Bands and even a gig with Carole King in a USO show that was aired on the Tonight Show. Jeremy , too, had been hooked on music in his early teens when a friend's dad pulled out a guitar and started playing. "I'd never seen a musical instrument. I thought it was the coolest thing ever. I still do." Later, Jeremy received a scholarship to the University of Oklahoma to study classical guitar. He fell in love with the SnakeShakers back in 2003 after his military tour, gave them his number...and two years later got a call to audition.
